Fiction Reading Returns

The internet has changed the way people receive information. In previous generations, folks got their news from the radio and the television. But these days more and more people are going online. In fact, an entire generation of young people has grown up on electronic media.

What does that mean? Well, it means they get their news and entertainment from the internet. In this article we are going to discuss one particular area of entertain that had fallen on hard times in recent years—reading for pleasure. We say hard because a recent report revealed that reading fiction is actually on the rise for the first time in a quarter of a century.

There are several explanations for this sudden turn-around, and one of them is the internet. As we mentioned, most young people are getting their information on the internet, even in a Villa in Nueva Andalucia. It stands to reason then that they have grown accustomed to reading on a screen, rather than on a page.

In fact, this is exactly what we have seen when we examine the incredible popularity of electronic readers. An electronic reader or e-book is a device that lets users download books directly from the internet. They store thousands of titles that can be read at any time.

As a device, the e-book is considered an upgrade over traditional reading because it is cheaper, lighter and it saves space. It also takes advantage of the younger generation's preference for electronic media.
